There're varing oppinions as to weather 285's will fit on a truck WITHOUT a plow. Personaly, I'm running Toyo 285-75R16's with no cranking, factory suspension parts, and about a half inch of trimming off the lower air dam.

Add a snowplow, and you're much more likely to rub. I had a 7'6" Western Unimount Pro-Plow on an '04 2500HD CC/SB with the 6.0 GAS, and it dropped the front of the truck down about 2-3", so fitting 285's would've been much more of an issue.

Adding a plow to a diesel will most likely drop it LESS than it drops a gasser, because the suspension is already loaded a little lower because of the weight.

You'll get some good responses on here, but ultimately you're best bet is to get your 285's to fit WITHOUT the plow on, then see how much clearance you lose when you pick up the plow.

Did you just trim out the sections for the plow mounts, or remove the lower air dam completely?

I run timbrens, and have the bars cranked 6-8 turns and I only rub my mud flaps. That is with a 8' western pro plus with wings, and 285 mickey mtx's.

No way would 285s fit w/ plow (7.5 Western...check out photos in garage) on mine w/o 3" crank and timbrens. I had a little rubbing at full turn on inner fender at rear of wheel well before adding Timbrens. Truck would drop 1 1/4"-1 1/2". Now, w/ Timbrens, drops almost 1"...no more rubbing.

I'd guess 265s could rub a bit stock w/ plow up...w/o cranking and/or Timbrens...

Note: in order for decent ride and alignment w/ t-bars set to 3", the Cognito leveling kit was required...rides nice and proper alignment.

Another option might be to add the new airbags on the front end. I believe that firestone has come out with a bag that works in conjunction with shocks, might even be a bilstein included, but cannot remember for sure. Haven't seen anyone with them yet.

I've got 285 BFG's and run a 7.5" meyer and have no rubbing issues at all. My bars are cranked but far from maxed out. Only trimming I did was a little off the lower airdam. This is on a crew cab and the weight of my plow supposedly puts my front axle over the weight limit. But I haven't had a problem yet. Other than some steerring parts that are getting sloppy. But everybody seems to have that problem.

I run 285's with a 16x8 wheel on both my plow trucks. My diesel I had to trim the inner fender and airdam but nothing on my 6.0 with the torsion bars cranked.

Trimming the air dam by the wheel well will be required I bet. I run 33x12.5(only measure a bit over 31") and have no issues. Ran 265's with no issues. Proper ballast will help a ton. Timbrens will also help a ton. My truck with a 9.5 V and the blizzard drop around 1.5" in the front with proper ballast IIRC.
