new 26' toy hauler only weighs 7400lbs, but has a tongue weight of 1200-1300 lbs. my weight distribution hitch is tight, but thinking i may need air bags? strengthen the rear end some how? im sure when i load toys in rear of camper it will be better, but not always doing that. 2006 3/4 duramax. crew cab 4x4.

rear axle will handle the weight, it can carry a 15,000lb 5th wheel but factory hitch is light. It is only rated for 1200lbs wieght distributing on the tongue. I would upgrade the hitch, see how it sits and rides, then put in air bags if needed.

I have a 27' toy hauler with 1100 lbs tongue weight with a WD hitch and the truck sits pretty level and drives really well.

Remember, when you add the toys to the back, tongue weight is reduced. Mine also runs in the 1200# range, good WD bars and all is good.

That is the curse of empty/lightly loaded toy haulers. They are balanced empty with big-time tongue weight so you still have tongue weight left when you fill the back of it with toys.

I've got the same problem. My toy hauler is 28' and tonge wieght is around1160. I've got my bars tweaked. I towed it down to myrtle beach last sept. and it bounced like crazy. I'm looking into airlift bags or some thing make it ride better.
