Ok, this is going to be long to discribe. I washed the truck and spayed the engine down. Went to go get some stuff a hour later. Truck was at operating tempurature, got it on it about 3/4 throttle. As soon as I let of the gas, CRACK, and a blue puff of smoke out the tailpipe. My heart skipped a beat. Since it's still under factory warrenty, I kept on drivin. Did what I needed to do and went home. It ran fine the whole time. No ticks or anything that would be out of the ordinary. When I got home I noticed the tranny temp had crept up a bite from normal. It took awhile for the engine temp to come back down from 200 also. I took the intercooler pipe off the turbo and looked for oil. I haven't done the PVC reroute yet so there was a little bit but nothing signifigant. Checked all the fluids, everything was good. Engine and tranny oil didn't smell burnt or anything from normal. Checked the whole driveline and all is good and intact. I didn't look at the leaf springs though. I couldn't find anything that was messed up on the whole truck. I'm taking it to the stealer in the morning. Going to see if it thru a code. It acted almost like a valve got stuck for a second, but I know that didn't happen. Any ideas guys. Sorry this was so long.

Just got back from stealer. It kicked codes 0401 and 0404. That means I need to install the EGR blocker plate and finger stick. Anyway, they refused to work on the truck because I have no CAT on it. A bunch of BS if you ask me. I'm takin it to a differnt dealer on friday.

Thats a BS reason to refuse to work on your truck. Id tell them no more business for you and that you were going on here as soon as you got home to post up their name and tell everyone to steer clear. As for the crack, stay off the pipe, thats the only help I can offer.

ITs possible if your have a hot motor and spray it down, you could crack something, but wouldnt explain why your trans and engine temps got hot.

The only time the dealer can refuse or void anything is if what you have done to your truck caused the complaint / failure.

that's what I thought guys but i don't want to take my truck to a dealership like that anyway. I know the motor wasn't hot when i sprayed it down, then it sat for a hour. I let it sit and cool down before i sprayed it for that reason. I don't know, it ran fine all day so far. Just the 2 codes, but that will get fixed soon. Thanks fellas!!!

My first thought was you blown an intercooler boot off, but you say it happened when you let off. I don't see any hp mods in your signature, but is 'turbo bark' a possability?

Would it throw those codes because there is no catalytic converter? That might be why they didnt want to continue without first fixing what they have found is wrong.

It could throw EGR codes if the cat is gone, but mine didn't throw any codes or CEL when my cat ran away. The first time I started getting codes was when I put the blocker in. YMMV

GM is aware of EGR/Exhaust issues and setting codes. You'd think it would be better business to explain the situation, rather than refuse to work on it!
Being honest with your customers is kind of important if you want to keep them.

2004-2005 LLY 6.6L Diesel EGR DTCs P0401 or P0404 - keywords idle rough smoke #PIP3256B - (03/22/2005)

Models:

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:

Vehicle may be brought in for SES or MIL light on. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the technician may find EGR DTCs P0401 or P0404.
Recommendation/Instructions:

Complete the proper SI diagnostics for the DTCs found.
If normal SI diagnostics have been completed and were inconclusive, inspect for any exhaust, air intake, or wiring harness modifications made to the vehicle. Modifications may induce EGR codes.
There has been a calibration released to address the concern of intermittent DTCs P0401 and P0404.
The new calibration will address DTCs P0401 and P0404 when the codes are set with no engine driveability concerns. If P0401 or P0404 are set and there is a customer concern of low power or black smoke, monitor the EGR valve and MAF sensor readings during the concern. A sticking EGR valve or skewed MAF sensor reading may also cause an intermittent P0401 or P0404 to set. Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

I printed that out and took it with me since I had a good idea of what was going on. The tech wouldn't do anything!!!!! He would not flash the new program, nothing, he wanted me to put the cat back on and then bring it back in. I asked him for the codes and he told me after I got slighty loud. 0401 and 0404. Insufficient Flow. When he told me that I said, oh thankyou, that means I need a EGR blocker plate and a finger stick. He said well, they might have smoething like that out there???? I go, they do, i'm going to buy one right now. The dude had no idea, so i just kept going on and on and proving how dumb they are. It was kinda funny.

oh, those codes still don't explain the loud crack!!!!! I checked the tranny crossmember and it's still seems to be intacked. The blue puff of smoke is what's getting me????????
