I am a "newb" here but I have some exciting news to report!
We are working with Baker Motorsports (Costa Mesa, CA) to build up the ultimate HD2500.
We will be focusing on the suspension for the first phase and then we will consider the performance aspect.
The base vehicle is a 2003 red crew-cab HD2500 6.6L 4x4. The inspiration for the suspension on this truck comes from some of the straight-axle desert trucks of the 80's. For the IFS to straight-axle conversion we will be using a trussed Dana 60, 2) 16" coil-overs, 2) 16" bypasses and a 3-link with a panhard bar. All materials used will be 4130 Chrom-Moly and everything will be TIG-welded. There will be a full rollcage (bumper-to-bumper) built around the stock interior (behind the dash with a custom interior/headliner, etc.). The rear suspension will utilize a custom spring-pack from Deaver along with another pair of 16" bypass shocks. The truck is intended to sit approx. 3" over stock on 37" BFGoodrich MTR's. We will be using fiberglass front fenders, "massaging" the factory bedsides and welding in mini-tubs to clear the tires.
Work has already begun on the truck and everything should be completed before SEMA. There is a little more info and a pic on our website in the
'News" section (link in my sig. line)
Thanks!
