I have a work truck that has the steering wheel audio controls and all but one of the lights light up, just the gas pump button, anyways I am wondering if and how to change out the bulbs, and maybe a bulb number or two.
Thanks for any info Andy

Last time round, I had to buy the whole button assy. And I'm the guy who solders in replacement lamps in evey other GM panel and radio. I can't remember the exact reason (bulb style or disassembly or bonded) but I know I couldn't change 'em:mad: .

That makes one of us. Between the australian design and quality to the pure ignorance of the local dealers to something different, I'll probably never buy a Pontiac again:mad: . I'd love to shove the defects and ignorance up Lutz's ***. Gmac Leasing is definitely getting this one back.
I bought it cause I absolutely loved my '98 Z28 and this was that car plus more. The only bright spot is 17 mpg city and the ability to roast the tires anywhere:D .

Are the switch assemblies hard to change?
1 remove air bag by inserting screwdriver in each small hole in steering wheel (on sides)
2 insert small 90 degree dental pic down between steering wheel and button you are changing.
3 be careful as you can pull the wires out of the connector at this point. pull up on pic to button free of the steering wheel.
4 I use a razor blade and elongate the hole the wires pass thru from the center of the steering column to allow easier access to the back of the button to release the connector. release the connector and remove old button.
5 slide in new button and reach in through larger hole and reconnect button to harness. after connectoing harness to button push button last 1/4" into hole to seat it.
sounds like a lot of work but takes about 2 to 5 minutes. I only elongate the two bottom holes in the steering wheel due to design differences between the small and large buttons.

It took our mechanic about 20 minutes.
I have replaced mine three times. I usually replace all lights every time they burn out. I think they cost $17 each x 4.
Fairly cheap in my opinion.

This would be a great "How to" with photos for the Maintenance second of the forum. Thanks for the tip.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the buttons?
