As anyone else noticed that you can not buy .010" over head gaskets anymore? Fel-pro 9521PT is the part number from Fel-pro, but no one has the gaskets and can not commit to any delivery. If I have my heads milled ( which already has been done), .010" and put standard head gaskets on, this will up my compression ratio leading to broken cranks. Has anyone got a suggestion?

Hrjack99,

You could mill a .35 cu. in. depression in each piston center.

I thought of that or new heads @ $ 300 ea.

What about boring the IDI chamber?

Thanks

You could do it but very lightly. There's a water passage between/ behind the valves and pre chamber. In my opinion the top of the combustion chamber could use some work around the valves, if you've ever seen how they work heads for flow around the valve pocket they will grind away any irregular angles down to a smooth soft highly polished cup. The pre chamber could have a softened transition between itself and the CC.

This is a BB chevy head chamber but it shows where they removed material and polished it. The difference on the 6.5 is the pre chamber.

Not as much chamber to surface and I've heard the red circle has a water passage behind it.

It may be easier to mill the pistons or buy 19:1 pistons.Edited by: quantum mechanic
