I have a 2004 Stock Head unit Am/Fm/Singl CD with XM-No OnStar. All worked well until shortly after I had a JL audio Clean Sweep and Amp installed. (I also have a Python881XP Alarm intalled). I now have no ability to scan forward within each song on a CD. If you hold the left and right buttons down it automatically goes to the next song. It occasionally poers off by itself in the middle of playing, clocks resets too.

As I currently run a spare PCM with Predator V2.02 installed- my question is ... If I reinstall the original PCM will the radio regain its programming? I've read here on this site that the radio gets its functional instructions from the BCM- Is the BCM a part of the PCM or is it a stand alone chip somewhere else in the truck? If I leave the spare PCM with Pred installed and take it to the dealer to reprogam the stock head unit will he see the Pred programming there and open up a whole new can of worms?

I hat the idea of installing an aftermarket head unit as theft occurs in our neighborhood far too often. Some people who peek into trucks often are looking for somethingto get later.

Any ideas would help. I hate the powering off for no reason deal. A split second later it powers back on by itself. Yes I took it back twice to the stereo installer and they swear all connections are good so that's why I think the BCM lost its memory/programming.
