At first glance it would appear my box receiver under my truck is been up wards. (i.e. like my WD bars bent the rear portion towards the sky). Inspection show no sign of bending or movement in any of the metal. The one thing I do see is that the surface where the two bolts meet the rear bumper the metal isn't flush against the bumper. I don't recall what it looked like when I bought it so I went in search of another truck to compare... after seeing 4+ trucks in parking lots the older ones are flush but the newer ones are just like mine.
What's your look like? I'm in the search for a replacement hitch as I'm hearing too many stories about stock hitch failure. Just isn't worth it when they're only $200 to replace.

I know someone that had their hitch look like yours. It came from when they were leaving their driveway with the trailer attached and the angles of the driveway and stopping caused the thing to bend. He towed many miles with it like that, but I would have been leary.
If you tow heavy, I'd replace it with a class V hitch like many have done. I am thinking of doing the same, but that would eat into my barn floor money right now. Until it breaks, I am going to use it.

Mine is "bent" slightly to the drivers side, I thought i was the only one with the cock-eyed receiver !!

I wouldn't be too concerned about the strength of the factory hitch.
Look at all the trucks at Muncie abusing the factory hitch pulling.
It made me feel a lot better about towing heavy w/ a lot of tongue weight.

I put a Reese Class V Titan Hitch System on mine as soon as I bought it due to the stories I'd heard of hitch failure at max tow weights. I've been towing my combo for 2 seasons now without any problems! I have to agree with getting the Class V hitch! Edited by: CrazyDaze

Yeah, the Titan V is a beefy unit. Why don't they need to attach it to the bumper?!? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif Stupid GM...

Mine is bent upward as well. I had the dealer look at it, and their speculation was that bumps in the road (while towing) probably did it. I had them put in writing that it's perfectly safe to tow.

Someone say TITAN V?
I got em on ALL of my GMC's.
I do have 3 stock hitches if anyone wants em for free (cause thats all there worth)
I learned about 85000 miles ago on my 2001 that the 'new tube stock hitches' really suck!
I was doing a midnight shot out of NEW England one night...well anyway I was fueling up and noticed my hitch was bent downwards....upon further inspection I noticed the welds were falling apart! Needless to say I was pulling a trailer at the time and I did not like the looks of it so I got a TITAN the next day.
My 2001, 2002, and my 2003 all have TITANS.

I've got a Titan V also. My stocker bent up so bad it was causing my bumper to bow. Mine was from the weight distribution hitch. My old one went in the trash.
