I have been corrected once about the front axle hubs. But in order to explain I will use theis term again. I want to pull heavy loads at low speeds in 4 wheel low. I want to do this over several miles on blacktop roads. I cannot decide what fuse I need to pull to prevent the front actuators from locking my transfer case to my front wheels.

I may decide to somehow switch this from the cab if I can find the correct wire in case I need the added traction to get my loads out of the fields.

Thanks

You could unplug the actuator and possibly remove the front drive shaft.

Why not just pull in 2hi? I am sure it will do it!

Where can I unplug the actuator at. Yeah it does a pretty good job in 2 Hi, but with 500 bushells of corn at 56 pounds the transission starts to heat up after a few miles and I have at leat 10 to get to the grain elevator. Just trying to minimize the heating.

how fast do you go when you tow it? i presume like 10MPH? i presume you can't go 20-25mph? if you can, run it in 2hi with the converter locked and it shouldn't heat up that bad..

10-15 MPH is all I can go on straight and level blacktop roads. Will the converter be locked at that slow speed or do I need to be in tow haul mode.

Thanks

This is when I wish I had the Edge with the attitude controller so I could monitor transmssion slip. If it was slipping bad, I would know I needed to upgrade the transmissionwith Suncoast or something. Maybe the farm will make me some money this year. Then I could buy some more toys!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gifEdited by: AOPA Roger

How hot is it getting? I realize time is money, but why don't you take like 400 bushels. If you have 2000 bushels total, that's just one more trip, you could drive faster and get the affect Diesel Power is talking about, and at 10 miles it isn't like you are going across state.

Just a thought. . .

baimpala, you don't know too many farmers, do ya? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif I bet he'd pull 1000 bushels if he could http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I never understood why they did that, (well, I really do know). Used to haul hay a lot when I was young. I usually was ready to take a break after throwing a couple hundred bales up into the truck. That's some tough work.

How much time does it save you if you grenade your transmission?

I have never been accused of being smart. . . http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Poor People(Farmers) have poor ways!

Prices are down again, too much rain. It was too hot early and too cool late.
