What state do you live in that requires emissions on you 2500HD?

Utah requires an inspection and depends on the year of mfg.
Usually winds up every other year. plus the annual safety check.
A big ripoff.

Could be hes from colorado-most of the state requires emissions on diesels-except in my town, I am lucky I guess but yeah you won't pass, at least thats what I have been told....may be ok on a cold humid day, so get it done now!

Here in Virginia I checked with an inspector and he said that the state is going to start testing the vehicles smaller GVWR. Ours trucks will still be exempt.

In Ohio, diesels are tested for opacity, that's it. Oh, and a visual inspection for EGR and CAT if the vehicle is labeled as having them.

The plate should not effect the result of that particular test and won't be found on a visual inspection.

You still haven't told us where you are and what you are getting tested for...
