Currently have the Six Gun installed on my truck. Looking into the Power PDA. Do I have to buy the Palm Tungsten also, or just the PDA?? Also trying to find a price on the PDA. Any info appreciated.

Thanks,
John

I was wondering if anyone had anymore info on this. Does it have to be a Palm Tungsten PDA? I also had a few more guestions. What do you guys use the PDA for other then the six gun control? Does anyone use it for navigation or MP3s or anything like that? I saw one here in the Market place for sale awhile ago and i didnt think anyone would grab it so i waited and i waited to long. Trust me i am kicking myself now. If anyone has one they want to get rid of let me know. Another thing i am wondering what settings you guys are using. I usually run on 3. I threw an expensive "turbo vain sensor error" or something like that awhile ago so i am playing it safe. Thanks for your time.

I am using the PDA, and the speedloader. When I bought it about 8 months ago, I received all of it in one box. I have loaded other stuff on the PDA, all of the banks manuals on PDF, and the owners manuals as well. Every three months I scan my proof of insurance docs and put them on there as well. I keep a log of tire rotations, oil/filter changes, fuel filter changes... As far as music goes...not so much, I have the ZUNE for that.
Setting, I run on 2 or 3 most of the time. I have the occasional import car that pull up and then I have to put it in SL, I may not always get them, but the look on there faces is priceless. Hope that this helped. Let me know if you want some more info or more specifics.

Thanks for the info. I am just trying to talk to some people out there that are running the banks six guns. The things you use it for are very intresting and are really good ideas. Do you know what the HP is for each of the 6 settings on the speed loader? I am really curious to see if someone is using it for navigation with a BT GPS reciever. How do you feel about the amount of power you get from your setup? I would like to find one cheap. The program comes on a card right? Thats what i have gathered. If that is the case i would like to see if the program would work in a different PDA. I am just thinking out loud. Any info is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I kinda hate to steal your thread, but does anyone have any directions on what you have to do to install the 6 gun w/ pda. i've been thinking of getting one for a while, but if it isn't really easy to install i'm going to be waiting until i have the free time to install. thanks for your help.

I installed mine. It is a pretty simple process. I have a couple questions though. Are you installing a pyrometer with gauge or a boost guage? If you are that will take the longest if you decide to take the the manifold off and drill and tap it. Basically all you need to do is plug the module into the engine harness under the hood. Mount the module on the fuss box or wherever you decide. Run the wires from to module through the firewall and attach them to the little box that the 6 way switch plugs into. This mounts somewhere under the dash, I just ziptied mine up. Then you drill a hole with the pattern thing they supply, mount the switch and you are done. I dont know for sure hoe to do the PDA i dont have one but i want one band. Hope this helps. I think you could get it done in like 1 or 2 hours without the pyrometer. When you plug the module into the engine harness take your time and make sure you dont bend any pins.

If you choose to go with Banks, get the whole enchilada, Six-Gun, PDA. It will come with the thermocouple for EGT monitoring. The thermocouple install method has been covered on here many times. There is a procedure posted by Hoot that works great, and is very simple for the person with avg to above average mechanical ability. EGT's are valuable info that definetly should be monitored. The Banks Six-Gun has many safeguards incorporated that "reduce" or "prevent" damage to your truck, but staying on top of your EGT's is important.

I really wish i had the Banks PDA they didnt have that option when i got mine. Deezul is totally right you need to watch those EGTs I have mine set on 3 most of the time and if i really get on it i put the EGTs in the red alot. Does anyone know how i can keep them down? How much would an intake help?

The biggest bang for the buck that I got on my rig was th CAT delete pipe fro MBRP. That took my EGT's down 150-250 degrees. If I had to do the intake over agian, I would "Swiss Cheese" the stock airbox and call it good. I have the Banks Ram Air and I surely don't see and additional 39 HP or whatever they claim. A good tuner program, improvements on your rig to accomodate the additional HP....it's all a matter of money....HOW FAST DO YA WANNA GO?????

P.S. Anything past level 3 on the Banks, and your gonna wanna look at a TRANNY!!! JMO!!! I'm at 25% slip in 5th gear on power level 6 ( IF YOU WANNA PLAY, YOU GOTTA PAY)...check my signature.....

I would like to be able to run on setting 6 and not have to worry about it. I know that would mean some tranny upgrades and i dont know if i want to do that right now. I am guessing that the PDA has a readout and tells you what your tranny slippage is, right? I wanted the Banks Ram air kit i thought that kit looked like it would really improve the air flow. I am running the Banks Monster exhaust and the EGTs still seem to be high.. What are your EGTs say on setting 3 and on setting 6? Another question i havent got anyone to answer is has anyone tried the PDA program on any other PDA then the Tungsten? The program comes on a card right? Also the only thing the cradle does is charge the PDA right? I am just trying to get some ideas here. Thanks.

I've got an LBZ with the Banks six gun and PDA. I just put it in friday. It says a maximum boost of 34 PSI and a Max EGT of 1475. It shows some tranny slippage also. Not sure how bad it is slipping bc It feels strong.

Can you guys tell me anything about the PDA. I would like to know if the program comes on a storage card and if anyone has tried or will try the program on another PDA? Also what is involved in hooking up the cradle for the PDA. Thanks for your time. 1475 for EGTS is pretty high isnt it?

The Banks software comes on a memory card, so it should work with another PDA using the same operating system. The problem might be with the cradle, it communicates with the PDA wirelessly, so it must be very close to work. The PDA only plugs into the cradle to recharge. The cradle plugs into the ODB port under the dash.

I saw MAX4X4 is using a Palm TX. (On the 3rd gen electronics "Banks" thread) I think Banks only supports the Tungsten E2. The cradle/docking station charges the battery and is the IR interface so other pdas may not work/fit too well. The software is on a SD card or you can get it from their web site. I'm using my pda to play mp3s too but I would love to get a nav system. Let us know if you find a good one thats not too pricey. The PDA doesn't need to run the banks software all the time. The tuner will just remember the last power level and other settings that were programmed. Of course, if you want to monitor EGTs etc., you need to run the banks sw. You probably shouldn't be playing tetris while driving anyway:eek:

The cradle will also fit the Palm T series units. Just a little trimming is required to the cradle for it to fit.
