Sorry if this is been covered but I couldn't find it on a search.
Is Installing an Electric Brake Controller as easy as:
1.) Plugging the provided OEM Brake Control Connector into the OEM plug under the dash.
2.) Connect the wires from the OEM Connector to the Controller (matching the colors).
3.) Install the 30 amp OEM fuse in the fuse block.
4.) Mount the Controller under the dash (or where ever).
Job done!??
Also is the OEM connector under the dash very difficult to find??
As always - thanks for the help!! You guys are a wealth of knowledge

I'm referring to a Prodigy or other similar type "plug & Play" model and not the Jordon controller.Edited by: skoryaro2

oem connector box location is under the dash by the e brake
pop the cover, the fusebox shows the location for the brake controller plug.
If you use a prodigy brake controller, by the adapter from prodigy, it plugs directly into the fuse box and into the back of the prodigy, no wires to splice.
installing the fuse depends on if you have aux battery or not. in one case it is needed, in one case not.
My understanding is the fuse is not needed for the brake controller, it is the fuse to +12V for charging the trailer battery.

Isn't the charge circut for the trailer already fuse protected if the TV is equiped with tow pkg? I just installed the Prodigy BC for towing my new (1st) 5th wheel. I didn't add a fuse?? Did I $crew up??

The fuse goes in the UHFP, (Under Hood Fuse Panel), to power the trailer charge circuit. The fuse is in the Brake controller harness bundle that came with your truck if you got it with the towing package, buried under the tape. It is not installed from the factory. Otherwise, it's a 40 Amp J-Case fuse available from any NAPA store for about $5.00. Shop on the net and you might save a buck but they're tough to get a good deal on.
If you do a search on this issue on the site, there are some posted pictures of exactly where the fuse goes. (upper left quadrant standing on the driver's side and face in toward the engine.)Edited by: DavesDmax
[QUOTE=skoryaro2] "2.) Connect the wires from the OEM Connector to the Controller (matching the colors)."
In general, never rely on colors; Check the function of each wire by plug position and controller manual. If you need, ask someone here with a manual for your year. Things change. For example, the pinout of the factory brake controller plug/harness changed in one of the later years and forward, and I think the colors did too. Looks like they sell eact plug-to-plug harnesses for the controllers for each year and vehicle too. This stuff is covered in detail in the forums if you are interested, including a GM TechLink on the wiring and plugs from Dmaxallitech:
