hi all.

my express van's lift pump went. the books i have for GM vans don't cover diesels and the book for GM diesels does not cover vans. can anyone help me with some instructions. It seems very few things are in the same place as on trucks. i know where the lift pump is but not how to bleed the system after. what else do i need to know?

Thanks, Jim.

open the bleed valve on the fuel filter under the van...but it shouldnt take much bleeding to fire

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a diesel van! Anyway, on my 2001 you loosten this star-shaped valve that's near the top of the fuel filter assembly. You then attach a hose to this and put the other end in a can or something. After puting in the new lift pump you activate it (on mine you just have to turn the key to the wait to start position) and fuel starts to flow out the hose. Turn the pump off and now the system is successfully bled. Just tighten the valve back up and you're good to go.

Just FYI, this proceedure is in the owner's manual that came with my truck.
