I have a 2007 Classic and have been trying to find a locking fuel cap that works with the Duramax diesel. The parts man at the Chevy dealership says they don't sell one because of the cap causing some sort of computer problem saying that the cap is not closed.
I also checked on line at Stant and they show none on their site.
Someone on ebay is selling a German made cap and he says should work on the Duramax.?????
Is anyone using a locking fuel cap and any problems? If it's a good one please let me know where to purchase one and a part number if possible.

Just asking the dumb question, the part #15070014 comes up as a "cap" on the gmpartsdirect.com site. Just making sure, is this a locking cap?
Thanks.

Jollyrogr, Thanks, I'll check out your suggestion with my local dealer. At least now I have 2 part numbers to confront the parts guy with. One should work for my model truck.

You should be able to order the above listed cap from the dealer, if oyu are ordering from an on-line site, pay close attention to the shipping charges, some are OUTRAGOUS.

It takes a little work to get the lanyard transferred to the new cap, but worth the effort.

Got the locking fuel cap today(both item numbers were on the package) as listed in previous threads. It fits perfect on my 2007 Classic and I was able to use the lanyard from the original. My local parts guy at the Chevy dealership didn't know what he was talking about as usual. This site rocks!

With these diesel prices, the cap is almost a given, thanks for the info!!!

I know on my 03 and 06 that the truck could care less if the cap was on(I fuel and leave it run alot of times). Some cars get very pissy if your cap isnt tighterned or the seal goes bad etc....but our trucks dont care. Duno about the new emmision laden LMM.....but the older ones dont mind.
