Does anyone know if the rods through the years have changed as far as how they are made. I know the LBZ is bigger but what about the material and the prosess they are made. Technology usually gets better with newer things but sometimes the material used gets cheaper. Just curious. Thanks.

Not sure about material, but as you stated the LBZ rods are a bit beefier. Regardless of beef or changed material the new rods are only marginally better than the old ones (although it may just be enough for some to keep from windowing their engine).

Another poster posted that the earlier rods are good to approximately 500-550 RWHP and the newer rods are good to approximately 600ish RWHP.

That being said, there are always exceptions to the rule (on both ends). If your going to play, pay for aftermarket rods.
