: Should I wait?

I have little self-control when it comes to HP http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif, so I decided to go with the milder Banks 6-gun/speedloader rather than the more brute Edge. I will probably go to Edge/*** if I ever upgrade my tranny. I really wasn't looking for tons of HP/TQ (yet).

My Banks 6-gun/SL will be here soon. My questions is, should I wait until I get Exhaust to lower my EGTs or can I go ahead and install my banks sys? I know the Banks sys claims to monitor EGT for you but I am the one to be over causious. Let me know if I am not being clear.

The Banks six gun is close to the same hp as the Juice.

I personly woudl get the EGT and Boost gauges to be able to monitor the engine conditions. It is nice that they put in these extra safety features but they are no better than any other electronic mechanism. They may fail in time and leave you assuming that it will do its job.

A larger exhaust will help in egt's but if you can monitor it you can back it down untill you have the time and money to put an exhaust on.

One nice touch that Edge has is the Attitude. It gives you the abiility to change levels on the fly as well as monitor the EGT's, Boost, and a few other items, so you don't have to buy the gauges if you have this.

You can install it but just know the banks will cut back on power when the EGT's get to high. It will also cut back when it detects more than 3% slippage in the trans. I wouldn't exactly say that the 6-gun is milder than the Edge either. As proven by recent Dyno tests, the Banks produces more than enough power to tear up the tranny. Levels 3 and up have the horsepower to do that. It's all a matter of time. I personally just hope to come up with the $$$ before it does. I drive around in level 4, tow in 3 and play in 6, but not very often. Which version did you get? Version 1 is more cautious than version 2. I'd still do the exhaust though as you'll find it will lower EGT's and allow the Banks to give more power. I saw a 45 horsepower increase and a little over 100 lbs. of torque added when I put mine on.

BB, the banks your getting is the 1st version. you can send it in however and banks will update it to the second version.

Should I consider this? Keep in mind the reason for adding this is just to compensate for power and mpg loss due to running 315s. This truck is just a daily driver and rarely pulls anything. Terrain Twister mentioned that V.1 is more cautious than V.2. This is my first diesel so I am still learning and want to be as cautious as possible. Any opinions are appreciated.

If you really want to be cautious don't add anything to your truck.

No warrenty issues, no aftermarket issues, and no possible distruction of stock parts that will not hold up to any modifications.

It has been stated before. The added power you can get for these trucks is addictive. You got a good sense to be cautious but anything you add to your truck may have some sort of result.
