I have a 2003 Chev.3/4ton 6.0ltr gas truck and my oil preesure guage is acting quirky. I'm sitting at 40 psi then it goes to below the red line! The motor runs smoothly and all other gauges are normal. I turn off the truck and then restart and the gauge goes back to 40 psi. Then 10 minutes later I'm at 0 again. What's the deal??!?

If my oil pump was out, shouldn't some sort of warning light come on in the dash? Is there some sort of safety engine cut to protect the engine if this were to happen?

You'll get much better responses if you put this in either the Gassers forum or Electrical, depending on weather you think its an electrical issue or an engine issue...

I think it is an electrical issue...maybe a stepper moter went out in the gauge because the motor is running fine...thanks for the help.
