When refering to additives I am not referring to anti-gel.

I don't know if my milage would be lower or not without stanadyne as I've never ran without it.

I just don't burn enough diesel in a month to take the chance. I've only put 6800 miles on my truck since last December and that includes a 2000 mile vacation.

I never put anything in my fuel tank besides #2. I leave the snake oil to the paranoid bunch.

I generally run additives as I do not fuel at a consistent location. I spend quite a bit of time running in the back country and stopping at mom and pop stores and other palces off the beaten path.

Not sure if they always help but peace of mind. I run amsoil diesel treatment in all tanks.

I run Lucas in the motor and on occasion in fuel. have seen up to 10% increase in fuel. Started to experiment on Semi in 96 went from 5.7 to 6.4 with one gallon of oil additive for a twelve gallon system. For a semi this is fenominal plus they garuntee (yes can't spell(luck of the irish) their product 100%. I have used it on my gassers and have seen as much as a 3 mpg gain. Lucas claims to reduce the friction in the motor and I guess I would have to agree. Have heard same results from some of the other additives as well. need to find what works for you. have a suburban w/ a 454 and over 200k on the odom. and I change oil every 6000 miles when using Lucas.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I usually use howes or other fuel additive mainly in the winter when the risk of water in fuel is greatest, or if I fuel at a PILOT, always get water there.Edited by: Good Sam'

Allright. good sam! Good fuel additives pay for themselves plus clean ijectors, add llubricity, and keep the water out. Win-Win!
