: ATS or Suncoast?
dmaxfan 09-01-2004, 12:05 PM I have been doing research on both and want to get the opinions of people running the products. I really like (I can't remember which setup) what the ATS has to offer... and their warranty can't be touched 100000mi no matter what you do to it. The price is a little high for me though compared to Suncoast. I have heard that for everyday drivability, Suncoast is better hands down.
BTW, when I get an upgrade do I need to do it before my tranny goes out or after. And do I need a t/c with these set-ups?
GMC-2002-Dmax 09-01-2004, 01:16 PM Depends on what you want to do with the tranny...........
If you have a budget, then the Co-Pilot will add $1000 to the otherwise same price for a ATS Stage III Kit - No Co-Pilot compared to a SC-Level III Kit..........
The Co=Pliot will help you click off a quicker shift IMHO, but at the track I did not see much of a problem with my Suncoast........
I am sure either will be fine, or consider one of the other options of you plan on staying under 450 RWHP, like a TTS converter and transgo kit......

White Duramax 09-01-2004, 09:54 PM It is your choice on what to get. I will only give my opinion on my ATS. I really like it, I bought just the parts and put them in. I dont think there is much of a difference in price between the full built ATS and the Suncoast level 5. My truck is my daily driver 1st, farming-towing 2nd, pulling and drag racing last. It does all three of these things great. I drive daily with the co-pilot off, which I only run around 400hp or so daily for mileage and smoke reasons in town. The trans shifts slightly firmer than stock, most wouldnt even know the difference from stock, till the converter locks in 5th which is nicely positive. Now turn the co-pilot on and you can go from a firmer shift to a race shift which is awesome for pulling and drag racing, but not too harsh at all. When the co-pilot is all the way up and t/h engaged the shift is perfect for WOT.

big_jon00 09-02-2004, 10:44 AM Thanks, I managed to pull the valve body this morning and check the A and B trims, they were both a little sticky. Worked them for a while and now everything is working smoothly. They shifts are firmer, the one thing is that I didn't realize is that it downshifted in just normal mode they are noticable, when coming to a stop you can feel it down shifting but the rpms don't jump around, from what I remember so it could just be the relearn of the tranny.
Thanks, Jon
