No it's not a bomb - it's a 6.5!
My 6.5 has developed a regular tick after startup. It goes away when up to temperature.
I am thinking a bad valve lifter. Comments?
Do the 6.5's need regular valve adjustments like the old Cummins?

If it goes away when it warms up and doesn't get louder when you accelerate, Then it's probably the avg. 6.5 tick and not the fatal variety. Edited by: quantum mechanic

It does as you say, but it is new in the last 2000KM. That's why I noticed it.
Hope it isn't fatal - we had a killing frost here 10 days ago and our crops are varying degrees of TOAST. No money for new truck this year!
Thanks

i would have to say it is a lifter. my old 350 acquired a tick like you say and that is all it was was a bad lifter. went away after a couple of minutes or so. so when i decided to change the lifters, i put a bigger cam in as well. more power!!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif
