If the first one didnt post here it is again. I made a mistake and dont beilve the first thread posted. Can anyone make a 5.3 tune work for a 4.8 I want all the power u can get with this tune. My dad has an 07 classic silverado and there is no such thing as to much power to him. It does have the small 4.8 in it. If anyone can help me out and make me a tune and email it to D_harris_2008@yahoo.com I would appericate it Remeber get all the power u can get with out blowing the motor

You might get better answers in the EFILive fourms....They are more geared toward the gasser crowd. http://forum.efilive.com/

youre only going to squeeze out about 50 hp from tuning. gassers arent like diesels

better get a turbo or supercharger and more fuel........100 additional RWHP on a gasser isn't near as easy as a diesel. But, if you build it EFILive will work great for tuning it.

You probably cant use a tune for a 5.3 on 4.8, because they won't have the same maps in them.
If you want a 100 hp extra, you are going to have to put a supercharger on it, and a much larger cam and headers and true duals. You would be better off trading the truck for one with a 5.3 and hopping it up a little less. You could easily drop another 5,000 in it with those mods, and void your warranty. Also, an extra 100 horse will reek havic on your trans and rear end. If you are just going to rod the truck or race it, then I am sure you could do it, but for a daily driver, I don't know.

You wont get no where even close to 50hp from one in tuning. Maybe 10-15hp.

Every little bite helps. He much rather pay 100 dollars for 10 15 or even 20 hp then pay 400 for a programmer that gives me the same. I also have another question in the efi form some dude has a egt gauge on his gas job. I think this is plumb out retarted but does he no something i dont about these gassers. Does my dad need one

It's never a good idea especially on gassers to put in a whole tune from another truck. You should always build your tune off the trucks base tune. Tuning gassers is a LOT different then diesels. (they don't come with turbos from the factory ;) ) Like said above, there is little to be gained it the tune alone. Biggest SOP gains will come from reducing the torque management in the trans quickening the shift times and bumping up line pressures. Other things that will help are bumping up the timing a couple degrees, but watch and listen closely for knock retard. You can also lean out the PE a little bit, GM has these a little fat from the factory. Also, get the long term fuel trims (LTFT's ) as close to 0 or a little negative as possible.

To really dial in a tune on a Gasser, you need a wide band O2 sensor and use autotune to dial in the VE and MAF tables. There is a ton of info on tuning these motors in the stickys of the tuning sections at LS1Tech.com and there sister site Performancetrucks.net. I hope that helps. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me.

My truck is FAR from stock, and wouldn't even run on a stock tune  And my tune would not run on a stock truck. I have a turbo, a cam, bigger injectors, meth injection and o whole list of of other things. I only run 91 when I got to the track, and have a tune I put in it for that. I also replied to your PM ;)
