After reading until my eyes were bugged out about tires, I finally made a decision. I put 265's on my baby. I wanted them, I like them and glad the agony of deciding is over. I used my Hypertech to reprogram the speedo. My concern's were the many pros and cons that have been listed on this and other fourms, among them the 6 1/2" wheels. Well I went to the tire shop and they measured the wheels at 7". They told me that they put 265's on just about every Duramax at tire replacement time and have never had any problems. They also said that the 285's required a small trimming of the plastic on the drivers side and folks noticed a loss on the low end. Here is a good little bit of information that allows you to adjust your tire pressure in a "E" rated 265 for best ride while still keeping the load capacity where you want it. This came directly from the tire manufacturer. The best deal I found was at COSTCO on their Goodrich Commercial T/As. 10 ply.
