LESDL 08-31-2004, 10:38 AM ...when the wife says:
"Would you mind taking the truck today?"
Tip: NEVER show any reaction, don't even blink. Just say "Whatever you need, dear" and go about your business.

AndrewFessler 08-31-2004, 05:53 PM Heh, my wife won't drive the Dmax unless its absolutely required. She says its too big for her and its bulky.
She did get forced to drive it her second time with a 26ft trailer. . . maybe that is why she wont drive it no more. All mine!
tmartin 08-31-2004, 06:24 PM YA THINK YA HAVE PROBLEMS,MY 04 4X4 D-MAX SITS IN THE GARAGE ALL THE TIME SINCE I AM THE SERVICE MANAGER OF A GMC DEALER,I HAVE A DEMO I DRIVE .TRY EXPLAINING FIRST OF ALL WHY DO WE NEED TO KEEP IT SINCE I HAVE A FREE DEMO AND SECOND WHY AM I SO PARTICULAR ABOUT A TRUCK THAT SHE WONT DRIVE IT IN FEAR OF GETTING IT DIRTY.I HAVE FOUND THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO LEAVE IT CLOSED UP IN THE SHOP AND NOT MENTION IT TO HER,JUST TAKE IT OUT AND DRIVE WHEN SHE AINT LOOKIN
DRCook 08-31-2004, 07:35 PM Well, over on another forum (devoted to chevy trucks/gasses and diesels of course) I talk about how we are in the process of a complete restoration and a little hotrodding of my old 1991 K2500 4x4, 8600 gvwr with a 454 in it. We are putting on a brand new bed (only 1500, i got lucky and found a new takeoff) new fenders, inner and outer and a new door, having the rocker panels and cab corners fixed. then a new leather seat from smittybilt and a set of stainless headers, free flow exhaust, new intake etc to finish waking up what I started with the MSD 6a box. it is already pretty fun to drive, almost as fun as the 2500hd sitting next to it. now the point being is i justified it by it being for the better half to drive also. I am going to have to ask to drive the old guy .......... my wife drives both of them, she is about 5'3" 117 lbs, not a big girl at all, but she can handle the pickups :-)
now for my funny story, when the little one was just a baby, my wife had to drive the pickup as I drove the car to work (a mpg thing). She was going up the highway and we had a cb in there at the time, so the truckers were complimenting her on tackling our pickup. this idiot dang near ran her off the road as he wove in and out of traffic, one of the truckers saw it, radio'd his buddies up the road and they all boxed the idiot in and he had to drive up the highway with a truck on his front bumper, one inches from his back and one on the side to keep him from escaping
Road Boss 08-31-2004, 08:28 PM Mine is scared of driving the big truck. Same here.
T.P.N. 08-31-2004, 11:20 PM Mine actually likes driving it, except when she goes to the drive thru @ Dunkin Donuts & they make her shut it off . . . . . plus, there's something about a girl driving a big 'ol truck . . . http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
kolekamp 09-01-2004, 12:07 PM Mine is a secretary at the school bus garage. She has her CDL and has driven the buses in the past.
Although she treated it like a "man thing" when we bought my (dream) truck, now she wants to drive it to work every day to one up the diesel mechanics! Help!
No, I'm not getting her one. Till she makes me anyway.
DRCook 09-01-2004, 12:31 PM well you could use it as an excuse to get another. maybe just the regular cab, long bed, so's you can haul them 4x8 sheets of plywood, drywall etc, 2x4's for remodelling the house, oh not that project...., but a good excuse anyway for another truck, the regular cab, with some tires, a roll bar and driving light on it, or a slick truck cap and a light bar on the cab. sounds like an opportunity,
unfortunately we are not all rich folks so we have to just dream, conjecture and scheme http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
kolekamp 09-01-2004, 12:58 PM Ain't that true, DRC...
The lottery will have to buy my (our) next one!!!

After 'lurking' here for some time now, this is the first D/A I've read that has to shutoff at the drive thru's. DD should get THEIR intercom fixed http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

sprintmod1 09-02-2004, 12:35 PM My wife will drive ours anywhere anytime and some days asks for it so she can get stuff home from the nursery to taking the grass, leaves and weeds to the recycling center, etc. She will also drive the wheels off it with the camping trailer attached or the 28' race trailer.
My funny story is my old boss's wife; she's all of 4'10" tall and maybe 100 lbs. Is a manager at a Coca-Cola plant; got moved/promoted to another plant in the area and her belief is that if she asks someone to work for her she should be able to also do the job herself. On her first day at the new plant she was going around meeting everyone in the plant and got to the docks. Some senior dock employee was giving her the business about she don't know squat about shipping, etc., etc., and could never do "HIS" job; she proceeded to show him how to use the fork lift and jockey the tractor trailers around in the yard including backing 53' trailers into the docks. Guess he didn't know that besides her new BMW they owned a Duramax (3rd vehicle to pull the 30' boat) and my boss's Suburban and she HAS a CDL!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifEdited by: sprintmod1

DRCook 09-02-2004, 10:55 PM you just gotta be scared of them driving the big truck cause once they find they can and how much fun the trucks are, well then you are right back to the post that started the entire chain,
that is: they ask you to drive the truck to work today, you get to use it for a change :-)
