I have an lly and my friend has an lb7. he removed his cat and now the things smells bad. is this something that is a direct result of removing the cat. do the lly's stink when the cat is removed? I wnt to remove mine along with the egr but i dont want to smell like rotten eggs at the stop lights.

You will just get a more raw diesel smell. I don't find it objectional either way.

When I removed my cat, it definitely changed the exhaust smell. I think it smells much better without the kitty.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif But when you grow up around diesel tractors, you kinda get to like that diesel smell.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Mine did not have a cat to begin with so I guess I missed out on what it would have smelled like with one. Might have to mount one up and see if I like it better....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif

Quicker turbo spool up and lower EGT's.

I also used to not feel the Juice defueling between shifts, but now I feel it more. I also looked tonight and found out I had hit a 20% backdown at some point, probably due to EGT? Not sure . . . I'll have to pay more attention to the gauges instead of little old ladies crossing the road next time I hammer it.
I think there was a bigger difference in removing the Cat than there was in putting on a cat-back 4" exhaust. If I were to do it over, I'd do the downpipe first, then the exhaust later if I couldn't do it all at once.

Quicker turbo spool up and lower EGT's.
And more emissions and NOx into the air we all breath too.
