I was reading a post titled "Are injectors the big problem or do we have other issues deveoping??" and saw lots of comments about warranty,Gm employee loyalty, customer service, voiding warranty, good dealers, bad dealers, service on vehicles with aftermaket add-on's etc etc.It was a most interesting topic.

I titled this one as WHO WAGS THE TAIL-THE SERVICE MGR OR GM on WARRANTY ISSUES .I ask this question now because i am about to go and pick up my truck that has had the injectors replaced.I have some concerns which some of you have read from previous post, about the parts that have been installed--and they are REMANUFACTURED parts.I know i was set straight ,and felt good last nite, about the answers to these concerns by posts from Mackin and dmaxalliTech, but i want it on record with GM that i know they were Remanufactured parts, after all, this problem has had a bandaid on it for years, and i don't have YEARS before the Special warranty expires--I have 130000 KM on it now.I don't want to spout off all the details the TECH told me--i'd rather keep him out of the equation as he is being honest with me-THE CUSTOMER-with the questions i ask.The dealer Service Mgr has accomodated me by getting my truck in quick,in spite of his first comment to me that it would be 4 weeks for parts. After firing off emails to as many GM people i could find ,i did get a call from GM,retold my story and VOILA--the parts will be in ,and my truck will be done quickly, and here's a Yukon Denali to drive in the meantime.NOW--in order to get it on the RECORD that i am aware of what has been installed,JUST IN CASE THERE ARE PROBS DOWN THE ROAD,who should i approach first? The Service MGR who has treated me with kid gloves OR the person at GM(i have her direct line) that seemed to get the ball rolling FAST.The point i want to make to them is this.

GM has finally acknowledged that there is an injector problem ,have issued a directive to their dealers about how to handle the problem ,and have stated the procedure and PART #'s to deal with it.

Apparently from what i see this is not being done.part #8972080749 that has been installed on my truck is not the # (97729095) stated in the fix bulletin.SO--the bottom line to this long winded post is this-tomorrow when i go to p/u my truck-should i bring up my concern with the S.MGR or call the person at GM that took on my case?

first of all, The part number difference is because you are in Canada. GM for some reasons uses different part no's in Canada on some things. I just checked the TSB for replaceing the injectors and the only thing it says about Canada trucks is:

Important:

'GM of Canada' dealers are required to contact the GM Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) to review the completed diagnostic worksheet and obtain a case number prior to injector replacement.

That being the case, it lists no part numbers. I am confident that GM is still not using old injector cores to reman injectors. As far as who to talk too, it wont matter as the warranty is covered to 200k miles regardless of reman or new, as long as correct injectors are installed and if incorrect injectors are installed, GM wont pay the claim to the dealer.

From what I have heard, DmaxalliTech is right...there has never been a remanufactured injector for the LB7 or the LLY. All of the replacement parts for US and Canada are completely new. The part description does sometimes say remanufactured injector, but in reality the part is not remanufactured.

I don't know the specifics of all the part number discussion, but I do know that there was a part number change when they went from individually packed injectors to the 4-pack of injectors. And since DmaxalliTech has been right on the money on all his other posts, there probably are different part numbers in Canada as well. Additionally you need to drop the first and last digit from the part number printed on the part to come up with the part number in the GM system...in other words drop the "8" and the "9" from the 10 digit number you listed to get the 8 digit GM number. That being said...the 4-pack that they order through the system may not have that same number printed on the individual injectors.
