: Jack - where is it

OK - now I know this seems silly but just in case I ever need it where is the bar for the jack in the 2003 hidden? By the way I can't believe that that little thing they call a jack will do the job when needed. I finally got around to checking the jack just in case I ever needed it & laughed when I saw it. It looks like something you would use on a mini Cooper. I looked all over under the rear seat of my crew cab but I could not locate a bar to raise & lower the jack. Edited by: Rick&Danni

If you will lower the seats down in the back and pull up that little flap you will see a black case there with a turn knob holding it down, undo that and there are your tools...

Thanks, I missed it, to busy wonder how that little jack was going to lift that truck. Do you suggest replacing the jack with a good jack or do you think I can trust this one?

I used mine to lift the front passenger tire off the ground on mine with out any problem.

Were you able to get the wheel bolts off with the supplied tools?

I didn't find mine until my neighbor, who has a Z71, came over and showed me where it was at. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I either use my floor jack or I'll call AAA and have them tow it home or change it if I desperate. That's a big honking tire to change on the road...

I have used my jack. Wasn't impressed with the way the truck rocked when transports went by. I expected the truck to "fall off the jack"

No, I couldn't break the lug nuts with the tools. Now I carry a 4 way lug wrench. Yeah, I was crazy. I forgot to use roadside assistance. Never thought to call them until I couldn't get the lug nuts off and was complaining to my wife. She said use roadside assistance. She's always had the new vehicles and it showed. Anyway, long post for short answer.

In answer to K1xv's question I used my 4 way lug wrench to break the nuts loose (Oh that don't sound right).

I keep a Milwaulkee 18Volt Impact in my tool box for breaking the lugs loose. The jack will work, had to use on the front and rear. Of course that was with the stock tires. Haven't had to use it yet with 285's.

I finally had a chance to look after the post I recieved. Right under the flap above the jack location were the tools & my set also had gloves. Thanks for all the info, I spent 45 min. looking on a weekend & looking through the owner's guide & couldn't find it. I knew there were tools provided but just couldn't guess where GM would put them. That was the only place I didn't look.
