I installed a new ats trans with copilot last friday and went to the track with it tonight. I made a couple of mid 8.2 passes and on one I threw a P0700 and P2761 code with the copilot set on race. I checked the codes with efilive, wrote them down and cleared them. I then backed the copilot down to lvl 4 and never set a code again all night. I arrived home and pm'd wade here on the diesel place not expecting to hear from him until maybe tomorrow. I am totally amazed at his customer service he calls me about 5 minutes after recieving my pm and tells me the code are normal and it is basically because the converter locks up earlier than the tcm thinks it should. This is a problem only when you run it on race mode and is not an easy fix on the 06 alli. Wade said they could fix it but it would be more wireing and electronics and who wants that (I agree simple is good ). He also told me that is is not a real problem and is in no way harmful which makes perfect sense to me and I dont mind clearing codes at the track since that is the only place I will use race mode. Let me say again these codes only happen in co-pilot race mode and they will NOT put the tranny in limp or hinder performance they are only letting you know the tcm doesnt think the torque converter should lock up so soon. I just wanted to let everyone know in case you run into this, it's nothing to be worried about. I would also like to thank Wade at ATS if he reads this for his excellent customer support. I am just amazed he actually calls a customer at 11:00PM at night to answer a question I think that is above and beyond.

That's cool. Feels good when your parts guy takes care of you like that.:)

Thanks Randy
I can't always promise that I'll see those PM's that quick, but when I do I'll be sure to get back to ya.

I had heard about codes being set by the co-pilot on the 6 speeds, but I wasn't sure exactly what caused them. It's good info to have. ATS's customer service is one of the many reasons I really want to get a co-pilot for my trans build.

I would highly recomend it the shifts are an amazing difference.
Wade, I had the fast relearn an all the tap cells cleared, all I can say is wow another huge difference. I did just like you said to putting the truck back to stock then 5 part throttle runs through all 6 gears then 5 full throttle runs through all 6 gears. The truck is so smooth now its crazy I will go back out this afternoon and load a small tow tune do the shifting all over again then try it with the co-pilot. Thanks again.

No problem Randy, like I said, the Allison can be a funny little piece of hardware if you don't do things just right.
If you need anything else just let me know, I'm always more than willing to help.
Cheers,
Wade

Is the install just a plug and play affair, or is it more in depth? Thanks in advance.

just plug and play. I say its worth it. The truck shifts so much better now that I have the copilot, musch quicker in race mode with a high power tune.

It isn't quite plug and play (at least not what I would call plug and play). It involves dropping the pan and installing a solenoid block in one of the lines on the valve body and tapping into some various wires on the truck. Not a big deal, but not just an unplug this and plug this in type of deal. Here are the install instructions for the 6 speed if you want to check them out: https://www.atsdiesel.com/PDF/120505/GM%206Speed%20CoPilot1.2.pdf

I threw the same codes in race mode with mine. Definitely didn't hurt anything. That tranny kicks major a$$. Mine is one step down from the extreme. Towed 10,000 lbs to az and never had a problem with the Predator on the 120 hp tune. Need to get EFI though, just don't have the time!
