Hello LB7 guys ! My dear Wife owns a very nice '06 LBZ. I fell in love with it and I am getting rid of all kinds of stuff to try to get one for myself. I have already sold my GMC Syclone, and thinking about parting out my 11 second '94 Rx-7. However, I realize that with all my expenses, I will not be able to afford another $40k LBZ (My dream truck is an '07 Classic).

On the other hand, I work as a technician at a major GM diesel truck dealer, and have come across numerous older Duramaxes that impress me.
I was wondering about the LB7.... should I get one, and what's the lowest
I can expect to pay for an '01 with 50-100k miles in good condition (RWD, EC, SB, options don't matter). Thanks.

I'd say the 01' is an odd year, with a few extra problems, I'd steer clear of that year. If that was an 02' with all that you specified, the blue book value is about 20k for private party, so 24,000 from the dealer, with 100k miles.

I notice that most nice ones are '02s. My co-worker had an '01 but they are rare and do seem to have a lot of injection problems. I was hoping I could get a nice one for $15k with my employee discount. Thanks for the info.

I love my 01.. yeha they do have a few extra issues but GM is pretty quick to stand by your side. they extended a warrenty on the injectors for 7yrs. or 200000. Dont look away from an 01 if it is a good deal.

I have a 02 3500 Dually Crew Cab with 85,000 miles and payed $24,500 and I really like this truck. I ran the vin with a Chevy dealer before I purchased the truck and the injectors had already been changed at 75,000 miles. Other than that everything else checked out. From all that I have read is that Cheverolet is covering the injectors up to 200,000 miles or 7 years on the lb7's. It is always a chance when purchasing used unless you know how the vehicle has been taken care of. Good luck.

01s, 02s, 03s and some 04s have had injector issues. The 05s have not had any issue with them that I know of but you are going to pay $30K plus for it. I decided to take a chance on an 01 since I could not afford an 04 or 05 and I still have until 12/07 for the 7yr/200K mile injector coverage. I have 55K miles on it with no issues at all. If they go out before then I'm covered. If they go out after I'm still ahead of the game compared to what I would have had to shell out for a new truck. I really like the MPG and power of the LB7 engin.

01 thru the first half of the 04s have the LB7 and are having some problems with injectors, but like everybody has said they are covered for 200k or 7 yrs. I f it was me I'd stay away for an 01 due to the fact I've heard of problems with head gaskets on them. I love my 03, have almost 160k on it and only had injectors replaced at 157k, no other major probs. It all in how well maintained they are.
