: blackwall or raised white letters
Carbon04 08-28-2004, 10:02 PM I am putting a fresh set of BF Goodrich 265/75R16 All-Terrain TA KO's on my DMAX. The first set are pretty much shot. I like both the black side wall(what I have now) and the raised white letters. Just wondering what the general concensus is.
GMC2500HD 08-28-2004, 10:04 PM There is just something about raised white letters on a truck that doesn't do it. I am not sure I think that tires are black for a reason and should stay that way.. No raised white letter out for me...
TEXMudder 08-28-2004, 10:21 PM Its not a 1980 Cadillac....turn those white letters in.
Kartattack 08-28-2004, 11:14 PM I'd rather have them out unless you cover the white letters with tire black before you turn them in. I think a raised truck with white letters on the inside looks stupid.
JRKRACE 08-29-2004, 12:27 AM black for me too....
Black wall is what I prefer, but if the tires have raised white letters, I mount them out. I think the raised white letters peeking out from the opposite side look worse than having them out.
Just got a set of Michelin LTX M/S that have -- you guessed it -- raised white letters. Like the tires, but would prefer black wall. I think I'll black them out.
For me, it depends on the truck color and type of wheel. Some look better with the letters, other's without. I agree that turning them in when you can still see them, especially on a raised truck looks pretty lame.
Carbon04 08-29-2004, 01:03 AM this is me now, suggestions?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/ZD8_DSC00951_Small.JPG

I've got the same tires on my truck. I love the tires, but they are UGLY!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Throw Up.gif I wish I had put the white letters on the inside.
Dmax Tim 08-29-2004, 06:16 AM Mix it up Carbon, put white letters on one side and black walls on the other.
Man u need to think OUTSIDE the box!

The H2 all come black sidewalls and I like the white (brown w/ mud) letter tires we run in the winter on it.
How about this

srode 08-29-2004, 08:30 AM That's a fun way to "black them out"!
For me, when I get the stockers worn out it will be Revos with letters blacked out and turned to the inside. Saw one the other day with 265's and it looked great.
baimpala 08-29-2004, 09:21 AM I'm with KartAttack. . . black side out and paint the letters on the inside. Pretty subtle but if you don't want the white letters on the outside, why would you want them on the inside?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Dmax Tim,
That's Yell'r? I must be color blind.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Dmax Tim 08-29-2004, 10:12 AM That was the old 03, didn't get good pics of the 04 yell'r all muddy (the husky mud flaps really do work good)
Spraying the wheels w/ wd-40 let the mud sling right out http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
they were packed full when we were done.

esmo77 08-29-2004, 10:24 AM I just added a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers, if you like a good smooth side wall tire this is the one. I was very un decided about replacement tires until I saw these. They really look good on my white truck.
BlueCrew 04 D/A SB GMC 08-29-2004, 11:33 AM When I put on new bfg 285's the white lettering will be on the outside. Gives it a brighter look to just a plain black tire. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gifEdited by: BlueCrew 04 D/A SB GMC
Burner 08-29-2004, 11:57 AM I prefer the blacked side. However, it may depend on the tire and the set-up of the truck. Some tires like Dmax Tim's White 03 H2 are just an edged letter, the General Tire. Other tires like the BGF that have solid letters may look a little better. Actually, if I ever run white letters they must be solid. I've run the thin versions and they really look like crap after a few thousand miles and really bad if you take it off-road.

tophog 08-30-2004, 12:29 AM Turning white letters in doesn't do it for me. I turn them in and also paint them out with a permanent black marker :)
Dmax Tim 08-30-2004, 05:44 AM Burner, keep plenty of mud on the sidewalls, it acts like a lube and helps keep rocks from destroying the white lettershttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
flhrciblueice 09-12-2004, 06:57 PM Black out.

tophog 09-12-2004, 09:41 PM I agree ...letters out ..black letters that is http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
That's what makes this country so great ...we can wear our letters how ever we like.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gif

Chevyfreek 09-14-2004, 04:22 PM I think they both look good, but if the tires has raised white letters than I would run them out for sure...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
