The same SFA kits should work whether is 2 or 4wd You just need to add a transfer case. Im not exaclty sure what this entails either, whether its just an output shaft swap on the allison or in you need a new transmission housing. Or you could use a Ford divorced NP205 t case mounted behind your transmission which would give you better D shaft angles, but your speedo will only read right in high range, and youd probably have to put dodge internasl with 32 spline shafts to put the required 1410 series yokes on it. Still probably cheaper and easier than a OEM setup.

I think you would be money ahead to sell your truck and buy a 4wd. That woudl be a much better way to get 4wd. The cost and headaches that you will entail will drive you crazy. You can get a good used 4wd pretty reasonable. I would consider that strategy before trying to convert a 2wd to 4wd. It can be done, but it will be difficult, and expensive.

Well, i dont know much just enough to hurt myself :D www.offroadunlimited.com sells abouth the best and most popular sfa kit out there. Pricey but pretty well built. Now you may be better off trading up to a 4x4 to do this to. Myself, I use my 4x4s, and i would use the divorced 205 t case, But i have the ability to fabricate for myself, and this can be very costly to outsource.

I planed on going to a sfa when i bought my truck, i never liked the ifs, dont want to deal with the cv joint probs or the alignment problems, so i expected the high cost, but i figured it was better than financing the extra $5k and ending up spending $7500 over the life of my loan for just anther 4wd. thanks for the help and input everyone, it is appreciated.

I agree,I'd run a divorced 205 out of an early Dodge and fab my own crossmember and whatever else I could. Keep us posted on progress :D .

Dodge internals, at least the input shaft is a 29 spline shaft. The same as the allison 4wd output shaft, the getrag 5 speed, NV4500, and NV5600.

The output's probably are 32 spline though.

I would get with www.advanceadapters.com (http://www.advanceadapters.com) and see what they have. I put a 4.3L chevy into a toyota one time and they had everything I needed in one kit. Not sure if they will have the sfa kit but they specialize in adapting engines and trannies in a bunch of different configs. Myself, I like the looks of the solid axles, especially on lifted trucks.
