Do you folks recommend a supplier for new PMD. Heath? SS Diesel Supply?
I noticed Heath gives a pretty good warranty. Anyone use them?

Just about anybody who handles 6.5TD stuff has a PMD solution.

Only Heath has a 7 yr warranty. That was the major selling feature for me.

If others figure theirs would last as long, they'd have a warranty like that, too.

I also like the fact that it mounts right out of the engine compartment, is weather-sealed, and the design makes sense to me. That being said, you can find lots of alternatives. Your call.

I have the Heath unit. Nice warranty. (Although I got 5+ years out of my last pump mounted one...)

Not crazy about the shrink wrap connector but it works okay.

I hate the mounting location on the splash plate!

Replaced my oil cooler lines last weekend. First I needed to find the source of the leak, so I needed to drop the splash plate and run the engine...

So, I disconnect FSD, drop plate, prop plate up on box, reconnect FSD start engine and roll around under truck with damn splash plate and box in the way....

Road test? Not unless you dismount the heat sink from the plate....which would be necessary to replace the warrantied FSD itself....

Started thinking about a roadside replacement. Of course this would be necessary in the middle of the night on the side of the road in the rain....not a very easy to get to location without getting flat on your back.

I like Kennedy's unit. Real connector and the ablility to mount in the bumper or behind the license plate (like Turbine Doc?).

I replaced mine with the Heath setup 2 yrs ago-easy to follow directions, good location, easy install, great warranty. To me the warranty speaks to their quality-if the others are just as good why dont they give 7 yrs?
Truck seems to run better now than it ever did, smoother, stronger. Al

1st one I got mounted to the side of the intake = about 1yr later went bad.

2nd one got from Heath = working fine for about 6 months, and with a 7 year warranty I got 6 1/2 years before I need to worry about coming up with money to get a new one.

I have a Heath unit and I am well satisfied. I think the key is getting the FSD/PMD out of the engine bay. No matter which one you buy, they all come with the same FSD/PMD from Stanadyne...thus no advantage of one over the other in that respect.

BUT...I have never tried anyone else's unit so I'm not about to bad mouth them. Kennedy has a better connector to the factory harness for sure from what I've seen.

The Warranty. There is no question that Heath's warranty is the best out there. I also don't think it's not in question that his is also the most expensive out there.

Given that the FSD/PMD's are made by the same company...my guess is that if you want the piece of mind of the warranty, then by all means pay Heath. If you can get it out of the engine bay with a Kennedy unit, pay less, and are OK with the reduced warranty...then go for that.

With the history behind the FSD/PMD from Stanadyne...I'm not sure I can blame the other company's for not wanting to warranty (for too long) the PMD. Heath really stuck his neck out (because he believes in his product) on that one.

I've got a Heath on my truck and it's been working great for 1.5 years so far. I haven't heard of anything bad about the Heath units failing, and around this forum chances are you'll hear about something going wrong before you hear about it going right.

TD edit Sorry guys comparision pricing which includes spnsors vs. non site sponsors isn't allowed so I had to pull the prices, but go to the different websites make up your own mind
