Installed my Racor 660 R2 kit today that I got from Lube Specialist. I had the filter all set up with the hoses so I stuck the inlet hose on to the gas tank side of the fuel line as fast as possible after I cut it and the fuel flowed down into the filter and looked like it pretty much filled it up. After I got all finished with the rest of it. I started the truck and expected it to stall within a minute or so but it just kept running. Is this possilbe? There had to be a lot of air in the lines. I never even heard it stumble. I was supposed to hook up to the bigger of the two fuel lines right. I was starting to get worried that I hooked up up to the return line. Also I cut out about a two inch section of the fuel line and I could see little rust deposits all inside of it.Edited by: somekevinguy

Sure it is possible that the air worked it self thru. It is also possible you could have some trapped at the OEM location.

I would open the bleeder, just to make sure and just prime to confirm clear fluid is present to avoid a no start at an inappropriate time.

Mine did the same thing. I pre-filled the filter when I installed it. I expected the engine to to stumble and/or die. It loped once, and has been fine for the last 4000 miles. Greg makes a great kit. I think you'll be happy.

When the filter fills by its self I have never seen one die. In fact if you don't fill it and start the truck up it will run for some time before it dies. Then you just open the OEM bleeder pump it a couple of times and your ready to go. The ladder is what I do when I install one.

I had the same thing happen when I changed the filter in my Racor for the first time. I pre-filled the new filter before I installed it, & after I started the truck, I waited for it to stall, but it never did. I still bled the OEM filter just to be sure, & only got a few bubbles before it was pure fuel. I was surprised how much easier it was to change the filter on Greg's Racor kit than it is to change the OEM fuel filter, which can be a real pain in the rear!

Those rust droplets would worry me more then the air.

Get some primrose in that tank .

Yeah has anybody else seen than. This thing is only a year old and it has little rust depost in the fuel line. I wonder if it is common with our trucks or did I get a tank full of salt water.
