My ques. is about running jet-a aviation jet fuel in my truck. I've heard of people doing this and wondered if it can hurt anything in the engine. I work on 2 corporate jet's for the company i'm with, and have it available to me for a good price. We run this same fuel in our John Deere tractor at work also, just wondered if it would be worth the try, with fuel prices the way they are. Thank you.
See ya, Brad
I'm no expert on this, but having been around Jet-A quite a bit, it's similar to #1 diesel which is run in cold climates, or sometimes mixed with #2 for winter in certain areas.
As such, I don't think the lubricity you need will be there. Not sure about what the cetane ratings would be. The fuel system on your Dmax runs at considerably higher pressures than the JD, and is less forgiving of fuel that's not got the lubricity needed.
I have a friend who used to run all the daily sump fuel in his old VW Rabbit diesel. It ran, but not real good. Could have been mostly the fact that it was old and tired, but I wouldn't run Jet-A in my truck. Check your owners manual for the conditions that you can use #1 diesel, I think you'll find they are very limited.
Just my $.02 tho...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I know people that have an old dodge cummings and a 6.5 silverado and they both add oil to the jet fuel.

I work for a airline and got Jet A for my truck. I ran it for 6 months with no problems. I did add a quart of oil per tank of fuel (26 gal). Another guy I work with has been running his early 90's vw diesel on jet A and has 200,000 trouble free miles. He also adds oil to it.
