I just came up with an idea. I have the factory folding mirrors with turn signals and dimming. I want to keep these. Had the cipa extendable towing mirrors on the previous truck and did not like them.

If you look at the ford mirrors, it appears that the mirror base sticks out about 3" before it changes to the "arms".

I currently use the cipa slip-ons. Seems like an extra three inches would help. So, does anyone see a problem with fabing up a "block" to extend the mirror base away from the door about 3 inches? I would need bolt extensions and maybe wire extensions.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif
