Hey guys,

I was wondering if I installed maybe the 90hp Predator tune or something equivalent and put my Edge setting on 0, would it hurt anything? I have one that I get from a friend that hasnt been used and wanted to try it out. Just wanted to know if it would hurt anything?

Thanks,

Chad

It seems that the Predator has been taking steroids as of late. Last dyno session had the Diablo tunes right in there with anybody, and beter than most...

Why don't you try the Edge on 125 and the Diablo on 40.........see what ya get?

Heck, you might even want to try the Diablo on 120 and the Edge on 1.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I just switched from Predator 120 to the v2 six-gun, and I'm thinking the Predator may have felt meaner. Hard to tell without any hard numbers, but I'm planning to do some immediate back and forth comparisons as soon as I get my exhaust on.

JK- Can you post a quick summary those numbers??

I tested 1.10b The results were right in there with anyone's comparably rated tuner, and better than most.

Current version is 1.11 as something on the 120 was not right.

I'll wait to pass judgement till I see the 1.11 run on a stock injectored truck, but I'm confident that it will do well.

Stock intake, exhaust and injectors, H2's, Predator v1.11, 120 tune.

On this day, on this Dyno....346.8/697.2 and 348.9/694.2

On a different day and a different Dyno stock the truck averaged a 240/410

So, can I leave the edge on 0 and the truck will be fine? I am thinking about taking the edge out, but, I dont wanna lose my EGT function. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

If you are referring to the backdown feature?

If the Edge is on "0" and it hits 1700......... it can't pull out...because it's not in there (but for just a tad of timminghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif)....the Diablo is. Now, if you had the Diablo on 40 and the Juice on 5, then the backdown would work until you were just on Diablo 40HP and a little Juice timming.

I would call John Kennedy and get an EGT guage, I got the SPA digital. They have an little alarm bla, bla, bla....... give him a call and he will tell ya all about it.

Burner http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ying Yang.gif No, I am talking about if I set the Edge on 0 and put the Predator on like 85 would that hurt anything with that little bit of extra timing?

I think the Predator is vin# locked. Meaning if your the first one to install it, it will only work on your truck after the first tune is uploaded. Your friend will be out of a Predator.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I know that. I am just testing it. Can anybody give me a definate answer on the timing issue?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Call John Kennedy and ask him. I'm sure he knows. I don't think it will hurt it. However, I'm all about one box. I do not recomend stacking.......still, I don't think it will hurt it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

BTW......... Last year I had my Diablo on "RACE" and Juice on "0" for 240 miles (Destin to Home, WOT).....truck is still running. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Those Pred numbers are lower than the last six-gun numbers found. 346_697 vs. gun at ~396/777 . Dyno differences, etc. aside, it's interesting how different the two feel, with the stock injectors and exhaust. The Pred feels meaner overall, especially at lower rpm, and hauls ass on the street, but it looks like the Banks makes slightly more real power under load. I'm convinced from the boost curve, egt's, and overall behavior that none really work correctly with the restrictive factory muffler (cat-less LB7).

Someone said the Pred 1.10b version had some surging and threw some codes. The 1.11 seems fairly smooth (except a little too vigorous right off idle), and no codes at all.

As an aside, I discovered a couple of "cylinder misfire" codes, once so far, with the 'gun. I think they were from a engine-still-cold quick departure one night, because I heard a couple of excessive-timing rattles just easing along in 5 or 6. I've started turning the box off while warming up somewhat just as a precaution.
