Effective 10/6/2003, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide:

HMMMM lowering the peak curve ,interesting ..... Wonder if the earlier trucks could get a reflash ....


Didn't they change this in 02 they reason why the higher speed govenor is possible ??

Exactly what I was thinking ...

This is a weird thing that's been changing back and forth randomly. In 2001 it was 300 HP @ 3100 RPM and 520 lb-ft @ 1800 RPM


For 2002 it was 300 HP @ 3000 RPM and 520 lb-ft @ 1800 (by the way, this doesn't add up, because 300 HP @ 3000 RPM means 525 lb-ft at 3000 RPM if you run the HP = (Tourqe*RPM)/5250 How can peak torque be 520 when torque at 3000 RPM = 525?)


For 2003 it was once again 300 HP @ 3100 RPM and 520 lb-ft at 1800 RPM.


Apparently for 2004 it is 300 HP @ 3000 RPM and 520 lb-ft at 1600 RPM.


The really screwy part is that I'm sure the D-max is capable of meeting all of those numbers! As long as it is making "at least" 520 ft-lbs at both 1600 RPM and 1800 RPM, and "at least" 300 HP at both 3000 and 3100 RPM then they can advertise any of the above numbers.

Maybe something to do with emissions and average MPG FED. requirements. Gets them under a restriction or something like that.
