Anyone have this setup? I have the Rancho 4" and got the FireStone airbag kit and installed last night. With the Rancho 4" the rear lift block is 2.5". Rancho also includes the bump stop adapter that mounts to the frame where the OEM bump stop attaches and the bump stop is mounted to the bottom of the spacer. This compensates for the additional height but the spacer is more then 2.5" ...don't remember exactly but more like 3 - 3.5".

I assumed the Rancho bump stop spacer would allow me to install the airbags without any additional hardware ...where the top of the airbags mount to the spacer where the bump stop attached.

I managed to get them installed but the fit was real tight and when putting 10lbs in the bags my rear went up like 1/2" ...and I think the airbags are placing "upward" force on the springs. I was expecting the rear height not to change with only 10 lbs in the bags.

So I'm wondering if I need some other type of adapter vice using the Rancho bumper spacer? I've seen airbag spacers on suspensionconnection.com that are made for lifted trucks however the spacers come in 1", 3" and up ... the info says to buy the spacer that is the increased height in the rear ..for the rancho that would be 2.5" ... which isn't offered.

Thoughts?

tophog if you need any help I would suggest contacting ORU. They install air bags on tons of lifted trucks. They also sell the spacers you need. Your other option would be to build a longer upper bracket that would drop down further.

y2kboti, thanks. I just discovered Les Schwab who did my lift also sells the spacers. They wanted to do the install for somewhere around $500 ... got the bags for $209 shipped and even with the spacers will save 50% doing it myself. Actually have them installed but they are too "squished" right now. The spacers will give me the extra room once I remove the bumper stop spacer that came with the lift. Just hope they have some in stock as I want to fix them asap.

y2kboti is dead on. My shop fabs a drop down bracket that keeps the airbags at their correct spacing when you lift the truck. Not an issue when your at stock height, but when you liftem, ya gotta space 'em.

I think that's what the spacers in the link above do ... pre-built, bolt-on and offered in tapered for tapered block lifts.
