I guess, in other words, what are the inherent problems with the early 6.2's (in a nutshell) and because this vehicle was used as a snowplow for the last 12 years, should the "boxes" (rr dif, t-case, frt dif) be checked for damage? I've had to replace the transmission because a "lot tot" blew it up plowing snow last winter. For those of you who don't know what a "lot tot" is, it's a Service Dept Runner in the Service Dept of an automotive dealership (kind of a gopher [go for]).
