How many people are having this problem with the '03 and newer trucks? My truck is now missing a speck of paint from the middle of the on/off button, have the exact same radio in my van and it's coming off on the same button. My buddy has a '03 dmax with the same radio and his is flaking off really bad, it's almost all gone on that one button. It looks awful at night as the button's backlight shows through where there is no paint.

Has anyone else had this problem and did you take the truck to the dealer about it?

My van is way out of warranty already and I bought the radio second hand so I doubt they'll replace that one but maybe if there is a TSB...?

yup! my radio presets are flaking off!, first thought it was dirty, tried cleaning it and scraped more off. It would be easy to blame this on my wife with her fingernails, but she never drives my truck

Mine was flaking, when I brought it in on other warranty work for the AC I mentioned it to my service guy. He replaced the button only under warranty. You can probably order a new button for a few bucks.

Joshz06, my buddy has a 2001 and his dash is peeling as well. The dealer told him they would not recommend changing it because he may have lots of rattles in the dash if they pull it apart to replace and then reinstall everything. He is still under warranty as well.

The rattle thing is BS. Properly installed he will have no rattles. They are trying to get out of it IMO.

Josh, The dash problem is not uncommon and is a warranty (able) item. My company has fixed this problem on many trucks and suv's for many of the local dealers here in Oregon, paid for through warranty. I would bet money that the peeling problem you are having is just to the right of the pass. side dash grab handle.... ?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif?Edited by: Mav3

Same here,

My wife's Yukon XL had the dash and radio button paint flake off. Dealer replaced the whole radio and is working on the dash. And I thought it was my wife changing the stations 80 million times a minute while she drove...

I have a flaky button too, but it seems too minor an issue to do anything about it.
