When I got my Duramax the badges were already removed, but after awhile I wanted them back on so I contacted the previous owner and got all the badges back and had them put back on. But like said before, each to their own.

Why did you remove your badges? Oh I get it you want them to guess if it is a gasser when they see you on the highway. :D

keep the moldings! IMHO they look like a work truck with them off. I still have mine on and my wife has proven, they still work also.

Took my badges off and found out some bad stuff. They had used what appears to be super glue to put the badges on the drivers side back on. And when I took the moldings off they have had the door re-clear coated and there is a slight lip from the new clear coat. Besides having to have my door repainted.:mad: I am glad I took them off :D Stroker Smoker Badges to go on after the new paint

I paid way too much for my DURAMAX emblems to take them off! But these trucks look great either way IMO:)

I think I am just going to remove the tail gate badges but I like my Dmax and 2500HD badges.

Does anyone think that the paint on the tail gate might of faded by now?

When I removed mine, I had 105K on the truck. It has been through Iowa winters and Florida Summers. There was a ring around the spot where the badges were, but a bit of polishing compound blended it nicely. Can't even tell they were there. White Truck.

I'm thinkin' about taking my emblems off and just leavin' the duramax one. How much will it cost? My pickups an '04, silver (in color) does anyone think it'll be too faded?
Thanks.

Some thing I asked about the fade. Read bagofdime post. It should just cost you some time and a heat gun.

I just recently did mine, my truck is white and has 15k miles on it, i did it myself and i had goo be gone for the sticky stuff left over, a hair dryer/heat gun either one works, and i was very careful with a flat head screw driver just to start it to peel then i just used my hands. If you want any advice pm me, mine turned out good no scratches and i left the dmax emblems....and then the next day someone stole my de badged tail gate :cussing:

That sucks, I did not even think about someone taking my tail gate. My last truck had a bed cover and you could not drop the tail gate. I am going to have to try and find a lock for the tail gate or something like that.

yea, 317 for bare metal tailgate and up to 500 to have it painted:rippedhan but i ordered a lock for it through the dealer so i will be ready next time haha

I removed the moldings from my 1500. Looked Awesome, within 8 weeks I had idoits that would park next to me and slam the side of my truck! After 6 mos the side of my truck looked like a wash board.

I knew I might run into this problem, so I parked where I thought this wouldnt be a problem, ya right! it seemed like more people wanted to park next to me after this! idiots! Must be people get jealous about a nice looking ride and like to leave their mark!

I was thinking about the same thing except I was going to replace the Sierra emblem with the Duramax so they know what smoked them!:D

i stripped my emblems after about a year they came right off with a heat gun and a stiff rubber scraper then took some cleaner wiped off the glue and it looked great
