Ok I know this question is on here half a dozen different times...
But I have put my tranny in limp mode three times now with the hypertech on lvl. 3. I did some investigating and found out that since my tranny is just barely out of warranty I can purchase an extended warranty through my dealer for only $1300 for 48/48000. I was just wondering others thoughts on whether it is better to spend the money on an upgrade or save some green and go with OEM. I don't plan on adding more power for a while as I am kind of on a budget because of the cold weather. Thanks for any (good or bad) suggestions.

Just an update for all of you out there reading this...
(Since I had no replies)
In talking to a buddy with an 05 powerchoke he told me of his tranny problems. He had bought some of the Lucas Tranny Fix and it seemed to have stopped the slippage. So I followed suite and it also seems that it has fixed mine (at least for now). After adding the Lucas I took my truck out and ran it as hard as I could and raced the powerstroke twice, and both tranny's held just fine. So anyone looking for a cheap, (TEMPORARY I'm pretty sure) fix for slipping clutches/limp mode, give it a try $8 at local auto parts store.

I wouldn't try to make GM pay for what you did to your trans by playing around with it. If you were to get the extended warranty and continued to tune your truck up and romp on it, you would keep burnin up parts and they would keep putting stock parts back in. Plus they may not even warranty it if they know you have used a tuner. Not to mention that it isn't very ethical to expect GM to fix your truck after you modded it. Just pay the extra cash and get an upgrade kit. Then you can play with bigger tunes and not have to worry about limping it again.

To this day I have not limped the ally anymore after adding the Lucas into the tranny fluid. Everyonce and awhile the shifts will seem a little off, so this weekend I changed the spin-on filter and it seems to have toned them down. As of right now it is shifting like the day I bought it, and I can step on the pedal as hard as I want, with no limp mode...
So once again, anyone looking for a cheap/temporary (as I am sure it won't last forever) tranny fix, Lucas Transmission Stop Leak/Slip. $8's buys you some time to save for a suncoast...

Dude this stuff is the ****! I change my spin on yesterday and now this morning added a bottle of stop slip and my tranny feels like new again! Im worried though.... adding that bottle off stop slip added almost a whole quart to my tranny fluid level.... is this going to hurt anything?

I'm pretty sure if you read the bottle of the tranny fix it say DO NOT OVER FILL YOUR TRANSMISSION. If you are running the tranny a quart high then you need to let some of it run out by loosening the drain plug. Running the tranny too full is the same as putting too much oil in your motor, it is a very bad idea and can cost $$$$ down the road after it causes more damage than it fixes....
