I'm new to the diesel area......I have come to understand a decent amount of information about gas motors and turbochargers (Maximum Boost by Corky Bell has been a pretty good book) from school and the GM FWD world.....but when it comes to actual diesel engines I really don't know that much.....so feel free too call me an idiot.

I'm looking for some basic bolt-ons for this 6.5. I know chips make a lot of power on computer controlled turbocharged motors.....who makes a decent one? What sort of realistic power levels do they make? I see Hypertech makes one, but from my experiences with GM FWD cars, they aren't worth a sh*t.

Intakes....these are big in the FWD area as well.....I assume K&N makes one and that it works fairly well. Anyone make something else?

Exhaust.....this is also a big bolt-on in the FWD world....and yet again, turbo motors respond well to a big exhaust.....less back pressure. Are headers made?

Turbo upgrades? Intercoolers?

I should mention that I'm really not intereted in flat out balls to the wall straight line performance for this truck (although that would be cool)........its a farm truck.....I have to keep that in mind.

I'm sure this is very repetitive for most of you guys......but a point in the right direction would be great (rather than just telling me to search).

BTW....who built the manual transmission in my truck? New Venture? Borg Warner? Getrag?Edited by: Canada

hello canada,

Yes to everything. There are a few vendors for the add-ons you mentioned and there's always the salvage yard. We have a couple of low buck upgrades as well.Edited by: quantum mechanic
