After 149,637 trouble free miles, the electronics in my engine decided to take a vacation. I was on my way to Ft. Worth, Tx with a load of steel beams when my engine just shut off, no warning, just like turning off the key. Of course this was late Thursday, and by the time someone came up to get my load and then came back to pick me up it was late Friday getting back. The shop I use had a computor to scan a 2003 3500 with an automatic trans but not a 6-speed. A module was supposed to come in today to read it, but it did not make it. The truck threw 4 codes but they don't make sense as to what happened. I'm afraid the main brain got fried, but I don't know that for sure until the truck can be scanned.
Anyway, thought I would throw it up on the board to let everyone know that, yes, the Dodge break sometimes also.
OK, GM guys, get after it, have fun.

149,637 of trouble free miles is a great run. Breaking down while on the road sucks no matter what brand you drive. Hope you get going again soon.

Atta boy EB. You might mention the 400K plus you had on
the previous truck. All under a load. But I guess that is
not what this post is about.
By the way, I talked to the a Dodge sales manager today. He
said on the late model 3500s, they are having to modify
the frame for the bed adition. This is voiding the warrenty
on the frame and rear suspensions. And possibly on
the rear ends. This will continue until they come out with
the cab and chassie models in 2006. That was not what I
wanted to hear.

Eb,
Heard that all electronic problems were caused by some bad karma sent out by GM. When you figure out what it is/was, let us know.

I just bought a '98 24 valve with an auto trans. It just rolled over 100k.It's the first Cummins i could afford to buy.Do the Dodges typicaly have electrical problems? I just had a selionoid replaced on the tranny.
Most likely something simple... maybe unplug the fan clutch.. it will kill the engine if it's bad but if you unplug it you can run it till it's fixed. Courtesy Captainmal
eb, try unplugging this connector.
