My good friend found a used Dodge Ram SLT Cummins with 61K miles and leather, power seat, bedliner, tow package, grill guard, AM/FM stereo CD, and tow package all for $21K. He asked me if this was a good deal. I looked at KBB.com and they listed at $27+. It sounds like a good deal. He found it at a sales lot and the reason for trade was previuos owner said it was loud (diesel engine loud).
Let me know

I doubt they would get anywhere near 27k for one. 21k sounds like a decent deal. I don't think it would be worth a whole lot more then that but it doesn't sound like a bad deal anways.
A friend of mine picked up an 02 cummins, auto, cloth, ext cab, 4x4 for about 22k us. If that helps you any.

I would say that it probably close to loan value. It sounds like a descent deal but not a great. If its a 4x4 then its even better but otherwise I would offer around $20k or a little less. Go off NADA trade in value.

It is 4X4 too. I forgot to mention that one. Any problems with these engines?

I don't think there are any engine problems. The auto trans has always been a weak point.

The previous owner did do some pulling and I think it was bumper pulling. My buddy wants a diesel to pull trailer for his horses. I cant convince him into a Dmax tho. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

Friend of mine has a 94 with the Cummins. Engine has had no problems but everything on the truck as been replaced except the doors and seat which needs it. Has about 400,000 miles and it has been thru hell and come back. His maintenance schedule is when it quits, get it fixed. Cummins is great, rest of truck can't be too bad. It is used about 3/4 off road. Pure ranch and not much else. My son drives a 03 and has had two earlier Dodges. Engines great. Auto transmissions have been the weak point. He pulls about 10,000 incl. the stuff in the bed. The auto transmissions seem to be Dodge's Achilles Heal.

My friend passed on this truck due to its back seat limited size. He will look into a Furd or hopefully I cantell him Dmax is the ONLY way to go. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif JMHO. Either way I will talk him through what I know and when in doubt => ask away here. THANKS http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
