I had my edge on lev 5 with defuel on all shifts and a 2wd QC hemi blow my doors offhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif.

But i had a chance to bump up the egt back down and no defuel on any shifts and i got him good that time at least ten truck lengths

But how is it that defueling on shifts makes so much difference???

It was probably your egt backdown that was hurting you. What did you have it set at?

A friend of mine has a Dodge Hemi REGULAR CAB SHORT BOX 2-WHEEL drive truck with a Magnaflow exhaust and a different intake. His truck runs pretty strong. He ran a best of 15.0 at the track. His truck weighed in at 4770lbs. All of the extended cab short box 3/4 tons were alot slower, at about 16.5.

If you have it set at 1100 or 1200 you're going to hit it pretty fast and your truck is going to defuel alot. If you set it at 1500 (maximum) you're only going to hit it once or twice during a run. The max I see during a 1/8 race is around 1700 for a fraction of a second.

When I tow heavy, I put it on 1200 and juice on 2 or 3 and the truck is going to take care of itself. Otherwise it's at 1500 for normal city driving.

I have seen 5% backdown on level 3 1/4 mile runs. Guy at work just got a Hemi QC 1/2 ton 4x4 for his wife. It is bone stock, and he wanted to race title for title (pinkys). I talked him into a weeks pay. The tests I have seen show that truck in the mid 15's. I can get easy high 14's stayin in level 3. Suncoast here I come, just need a few more kills.
