What are some of you guys doing about the 7" offset when you remove the stock muffler and weld in a straight pipe? Are you just mittering the joint at the weld?

I don't see a cat under there. I curious as to how load it will be. I have the juice w/***. on 03. Not looking to get real load just wanted to free up some back pressure and save a few buck. I just order new tires and wheels and needs shocks.

I had a Magnaflow on a 7.3 prior to the Dura and the sound was perfect.

You will need to angle cut the piece you install in there and it will weld up fine. Did mine and it sounds great. Nice and loud..

It is loud outside or when you have the windows down but with the windows up I can barely hear mine.

Im prolly going to wear my passenger window motor out cause I unroll it every time I see a building come up on the righthttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif. The sound is awesome.

Oh I'm definately going to do it. Maybe this weekend. Hell can't hurt. If I don't like it it aint like I lost out any real cash.

Got the new 285's on yesterday. They had to crank the T-bars up about 11/2 inches and trim the bumper at the bottom. The look is great. Ride now is much better than before even with the old shocks. Not sure if that is from the bigger tires, fresh allignment or cranked t-bars. I can't wait to see how it will ride with new shocks.

The extra side wall height improves the ride quite a bit.

What he said!!! It even passed the wife test. I guess she was expecting something louder like the straight pipes on my gasser trucks.

I just put a straight piece in... had the shop bell mouth the ends to get the angles to matchup somewhat..

This is a Duramax exhaust..

Got mine done quite a while ago and I love it.

you can keep it pretty quiet but if you really wanna shut a ricer up just hit the go petal and that annoying little bumble bee goes away real quick. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Mine looks like Hoot's. I just had them bell it out, and then welded it right ino place. Wolford, now take the cat off. It sounds even better, not to loud, but it will definetly make your presence be known.

I see if I can get her done this week. You all got me in a hurry now.

I got er done. love the sound at idle. still figuring out if I like the sound under power. It not too load just a little too much drone at about 1800 - 2000 rpm. Wife noticed it right away sitting in the back seat going down the highway.

only took about hour or so to cut and weld it up. I used a extra piece of 4" I had left over from my magnaflo on the 7.3 i had. I had to heat and beant it down to fit the 31/2 but it wasn't near as much trouble as I thought. Look pretty good too.

I don't know what that stock exhaust is made out of but it doesn't cut well with a torch and is a little more challenging to weld up to aluminized pipe i had.

My fuel mileage went to hell after I put on the straight pipe, I like to hear it too much! Like Wolford, I may wear my pass side window motor out. Every time I see a guard rail, bridge, building, another car, bicyclist, etc. to the right, I have to hear it.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

DuraMike,

I think what you've got is HRF syndrome. It is common with Duramax drivers, especially those that are modified.

It sounds like you must have it also.

I've been afflicted with this disease for a long time. Close to 20 years now, and there is no known cure. . .

If you kept your driving style to an economy right foot, would you see any improvement with changing the exhaust to a straight pipe 4 itch?

What exhaust set up is the most common for modified dmaxes? (other than stock)

I believe you would see an improvement. There have been occasions where I wasn't on the floor with it, and the improvement was minor (just with the exhaust). When I added the Juice on level 1, I noticed a pretty good improvement in mileage on trips. Then I shifted to level 2, and the fun factor was just too hard to pass up. Then level 3. I'll never see high mileage again. . . It's just too fun.

Not sure on the most common exhaust set up. . . 4" cat-back?
