: Anyone w/ Fabtech Desert Guard?
Crayz 08-23-2004, 06:56 PM I want to put one on my 03 Chevy, but I am not sure how it will look on a truck that doesn't have at least a 6" lift. Its lifted about 2.5" in the front w/ 33's, so its not that low. Just curious if anyone here has one and how they like it. Really would like to see one on a truck setup similar to mine! Thanks! 8.1GASSER 08-24-2004, 09:41 AM It should look fine...just FYI it does stick out pretty far like 12"-15" off of the front of the truck....I am running a nfab on mine basically because it only hangs out 8" and I can still squeeze into the garage.

How does it mount? Does it provide even a little protection, or is it just for looks?
Crayz 08-24-2004, 03:23 PM Just got off the phone from ordering mine! That was exactly what I was looking for! Should be here tomorrow. I called N-fab and asked how it mounts and they said it mounts in 4 places to the factory bumper. Two of the mounting holes go directly where the license plate bracket bolts on, and the other two you have to drill. Thanks 8.1 for giving me the idea for that guard!http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
8.1GASSER 08-24-2004, 04:19 PM No problem...it is a pretty nice way to mount up some lights...as far as protection....well people tend to get outa the way now...but I doubt it will do much in a collision.

That's a really sharp truck. I see it's supercharged. Did you see any increase in gas mileage? I heard that helps sometimes.
Mike330R 08-25-2004, 12:08 PM I have the same N-Fab light rack and am adding a CST skid plate.
Crayz 08-25-2004, 02:30 PM You happen to have a picture Mike? I am trying to decide exactly how high up to mount mine. Chad

The height is usually determined by the factory license plate bracket holes that are in the bumper already...mount it to them then mark where the other 2 holes need to be drilled, remove bar, drill, remount.....though I suppose you could redrill the holes higher or lower if you wish.

Mike330R 08-25-2004, 04:14 PM That's it!
Lights and skid plate soon.
Mike330R 08-26-2004, 09:59 AM I tried to mount the lights last night. Am using Hella 4000 HID's.
Turns out the lights are to deep for this rack http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif as the backs of them would hiot the bumper.
I already had to re-weld the light tabs because they each only had 2 small tact welds. Now I have to make new tabs about 1" longer.
These lights are one of the bigger/deeper lights out there. There should be no problem with other lights.
Crayz 08-26-2004, 11:21 AM Yeah, I thought I could mount the middle two mounts in the existing license plate holes, but they were way too close. It was like the plate mount was up side down. I had to drill 4 holes. So I put the bar up as high as it would go. I will post a pic or two as soon as I get my Hella black magics mounted up!
