Just finished the repairs to a fuel transfer system on two of the three trucks a local customer owns. All of his trucks have the two tanks with the transfer flow system on them (cab & chassis trucks)
Installed the CAT fuel filters, and fixed the transfer flow system for good, like GM should have designed the thing to begin with. The newest truck, 04.5 with LLY engine failed with just over 600 miles on it. truck has run out of fuel twice now and had to be towed in, when they get it into town they find out the rear tank is still full. None of the fuel guages work in the trucks, the newest one quit at about 600miles. Owner is fed up with trucks sitting at dealership for months at a time waiting on repairs. I have pics of install on both trucks, and will get them posted on website soon as possible. the Cat filter install went very well, only thing is on the cab/chassi trucks there is no connection behind the fuel cooler to tie into, you have to cut the tubing. i am also working on this, since I have to do one more of his trucks. We have ordered the system to make the quick connect ends, like the factory uses. I plan on the last truck of his to use all push on style ends, no hose barbs or clamps. will have to see how that goes, would make for a real clean install, and easy to put back stock later.
