Recently I have noticed a growl or shudder in my 2001. This issue only occurs as I deccelerate and the engine revs drop to around 900 RPM. I've also noticed this problem when I am backing out of my uphill driveway and back off the accellerator. Accelleration is never an issue, it only occurs when slowing down. Could this be related to the Ally tranny and there is a shift point at 900 revs and clutches are slipping? Could it relate to the engine? Why does it only occur while decellerating, or when the tach is falling? And why at 900 revs? Thanks for your advice.

Check your U-joints.Also check and make sure there is grease on the driveshaft where it goes into the housing.

x2 i have the same problem and i think its the u-joints I just have not gotten to them yet - i doubt it is the ally so don't worry too much about it - u-joints are not expensive - let me know what you find out
