Been awhile since I posted, but I need some help from you guys. The other night I was manuevering through the orchard leaving work, and I backed over a short apple tree stump. Luckily it missed all my body work, but it came in infront of my driver's side front tire and got in behind my bumper. It got tangled up on my fog light wires and pulled the whole assembly loose. It didn't damage anything, other than the filament on one side broke. Can I buy and replace just the bulb, or does that whole assembly have to go? Thanks for your help.

The bulb is removable, but I have yet to see an aftermarket bulb with the same part number. IIRC, the part number is 9145. I do recall someone posting on here that they used 9005's in place of the stock bulbs. I think it was problemchild. Edited by: flhrciblueice

You can use 9005 in replacement of the stock bulb, if you do this you might want to consider an aftermarket harness or you can look for an H10 bulb. It will replace the stock fog. Also is it 9145 is the part number on the original bulb I pulled IIRC. Edited by: GMC2500HD

For right now I just would like to replace with a similar bulb. If I am understanding correct, I am looking for a bulb labeled H10. Can I find these at places like Schucks or NAPA??

I "think" you should be able to get them just about anywhere. My main place to try would be GM Direct.. Just need to find that part number then you are set...

I've replaced these as well, I did find the 9145 part number through Silvania bulbs. The 9005's work as well.

I would recommend getting an aftermarket harness if you are going to run 9005's in those spots, this will keep the wiring from overheating.. Good luck

I replaced my fogs with PIAA 9005 (ultra white bright or something like that). I did not replace my harness (not knowing it was necessary), and I burned up the plastic around the bulb! First it discolored to a purple/yellow look, then the little chrome/plastic lens that goes on top of the bulb actually broke off. It's now resting inside the lamp on the bottom. I need to replace it right next time.
Speaking of which, I'd like to get some aftermarket fogs (that will be brighter/stronger than OEM ones) that will mount in the existing fog light holes in the air dam. Anyone know of a manufacturer who has accomplished this?
Also, could I do away with the fogs and put some mid-range driving lights in these holes?
I know a lot of guys run brush guards and mount driving lights on them, but I don't want to use a brush guard. Tips?
Thanks,
Terel
